|4-10-2 Overland Steam Locomotives|
The 4-10-2 Overland steam locomotive above is Baldwin #60000, built to commemorate the 60,000th locomotive built by the Baldwin locomotive works. It was an experimental locomotive that was designed for high pressure operation and was, in many respects, a disappointment. It is preserved today at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia. Southern Pacific (SP) also used locomotives with this wheel arrangement which also utilized a third cylinder. The photo below is one such locomotive.
