2-6-6-2 Articulated Steam Locomotives |
These early articulateds were built by Baldwin for the Northern Pacific in the early years of the twentieth century. These were classic Mallets, where high pressure steam was exhausted to the second set of cylinders before exiting the locomotive. A locomotive with a similar wheel arrangement was built for the C&O in 1949. It was never a common wheel arrangement.
