The ALP-44 is a modern, high-speed electric locomotive that was in general service on New Jersey Transit wherever the catenary extends.  Beginning in about 2002, it's in the process of being replaced by the ALP-46, a more modern, streamlined version.  The following was taken at the Edison, NJ train station in mid-2012, using my cell phone of all things!  LOL
